A Saudi-American meeting stressed the importance of quickly opening roads in Taiz Governorate and depositing revenues in the Central Bank of Yemen, to pay the salaries of employees.

The Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, who is supervising the SDRPY, Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber, met yesterday, Tuesday, with the US Ambassador to Yemen, Mr. Stephen Fagin.

During the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of maintaining the Safer reservoir as soon as possible, and the support of the Presidential Leadership Council headed by President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, in addition to discussing joint efforts to make the truce sponsored by the United Nations a success. With the aim of achieving a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen, and starting the political process.

The meeting stressed the importance of the Houthis quickly opening the crossings in Taiz and depositing the revenues in the Central Bank of Yemen to pay the salaries of civilians.

During the meeting, the US ambassador praised the Kingdom’s efforts in Yemen and the great support; The most recent of which was the announcement of $3 billion from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates; To support the Yemeni economy, and the Kingdom provides $10 million to support the United Nations plan to confront the threat of the Safer oil reservoir.

On Tuesday, the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, said in a briefing to the UN Security Council, “He submitted a proposal to gradually open the Taiz road,” stressing that the Yemeni government dealt positively with the proposal while it is still awaiting a response from the Houthi militia.
