Parliament Speaker Sultan al-Barakani revealed that preparations are underway to hold parliament sessions within Yemeni territory soon, as he put it.

Al-Barakani pledged, in exclusive statements to Asharq Al-Awsat, that all state agencies will work and recover from the field in the near future, referring to a full schedule of issues and files that the council will discuss in the coming period.

The Presidency of the House of Representatives decided at the end of last July that the General Secretariat would begin its work from the southeastern city of Seiyun, to provide all the appropriate conditions for the meeting.

The last meeting of the Yemeni parliament was in mid-April 2019 in the city of Seiyun, after the Yemeni President, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, issued a decision calling for the House of Representatives to hold an extraordinary session in Hadhramaut Governorate, instead of Aden; To avoid any armed confrontations with the forces of the Transitional Council at the time.

Al-Barakani confirmed that the parliament’s re-convening will take place in the coming weeks, and avoided talking about the place and time of the sessions; For security reasons, as he described it. “The sessions will be held within weeks in Yemen, preparations are underway and things are going well,” he added.

Al-Barakani explained that the most prominent files that the council will discuss are “giving the government confidence, discussing the state’s general budget, and economic and security issues.” “We have many issues ahead of us, legal amendments, there is a busy agenda, and no member will be left behind,” he added.

Sultan al-Barakani promised that all state agencies, including parliament and government, would work from the field in the near future in perfect harmony and harmony. )».

“The economic situation, confronting the Iranian project and the coup is our main issue, and work from the field will be carried out at a very high rate and in agreement with the government as a team and with one man’s heart for the benefit of Yemen,” he said.

The Speaker of Parliament called on the political components and forces to unite and work to restore the state, and added, “We hope that all political forces will work with us to restore the state, bring down the coup, and end the existing disparities. All loyal people belonging to the homeland, the republic, the revolution and unity should work in a firm and high spirit.”
