Al-Houthi militia imposes new sums of money on students in Sana’a schools

The Houthi militia imposed sums of money on students in schools, under the pretext of holding parties for outstanding students.

Educational sources said that the Houthi militia imposed on school students in Sanaa to pay sums of money, in order to hold a ceremony honoring outstanding students, as they claimed, while the militia is taking measures to discourage students from schools and education, and spread ignorance among generations.

Since the Houthi militia’s control of state institutions, it has sought to spread the culture of ignorance among students, by pushing them to the battlefronts and cutting teachers’ salaries.

The Houthi militia’s actions have stifled the educational process by pushing government school principals to impose exorbitant fees for registration and to hold ceremonies to honor the top students.

One of the parents, who is a father of three students, told Al-Asema Online that he was not able to pay the amount that the school refuses for the activities and the celebration of honoring the outstanding.

This step sparked widespread resentment among parents and families, especially in light of the worsening living conditions and the increasing urgent humanitarian needs of the population.
