The countdown is on: in a little over 48 hours, Christian Clot, a Franco-Swiss explorer, will be conducting an exceptional and atypical scientific experiment. 15 volunteers are spending 40 days in a cave in Ariège, reports France 2, Friday March 12. “There, it will be our camp, it is there that we will settle down to live. We can eat, cook, whatever goes around“, he explains, pointing to part of the cave.
For more than a month, the whole team will have to do without a watch, phone and natural light. The only traveling companions will be bats. “As I speak, it is 12 degrees and 95% humidity. It is very humid and a bit cool. People will be wet all the time, but gradually we will get used to it. As soon as we move, we are very hot“, adds Christian Clot. In addition, four tons of material were provided for the life of the volunteers in the cave.
