In a symposium organized by the International Peace Institute today, in New York City, USA, on the situation in Yemen, he pointed out that the Houthi militia obstructed all efforts made to achieve peace through the continuous escalation of military operations in a number of governorates, foremost of which is Marib, and recently the attempt to expand in Shabwa governorate. The Minister of Foreign Affairs reviewed the latest developments, the causes and roots of the war represented in the coup of the Houthi militia against the legitimate government, the various stages and rounds of peace, and the government’s vision for peace and an end to the war and coup.

He stressed that the Yemeni government pursues peace as a basis for stopping the war and ending the humanitarian crisis as a result of the war, and it deals positively with all international and regional efforts and initiatives to stop the war and achieve comprehensive and sustainable peace in accordance with the basic references of the solution, namely the Gulf initiative, the outcomes of the comprehensive National Dialogue Conference and Security Council resolutions, foremost of which is Resolution 2216. Full support for the UN envoy Hans Grundberg, stressing the need for the international community to exert all possible pressures to compel the Houthi militia to respond to all peace initiatives and end the war.

Bin Mubarak pointed out that the Houthi militia’s reliance on Iranian force and support, and its reliance on the illusion of imposing its ideology through violence and force of arms, will generate new cycles of conflict and war, waste of resources and wasting generations, and that the shortest way to achieve any legitimate political goals comes through dialogue that respects the aspirations and will of Yemenis.. Building a federal Yemen in which people share power and wealth is the way out of the cycles of wars and conflicts.

On the humanitarian crisis, bin Mubarak expressed the government’s appreciation for the role of international partners in Yemen in alleviating the humanitarian crisis, pointing out that there is still much to do, especially with regard to integrating humanitarian support with development, building the capacity of state institutions and helping people to generate livelihoods because relief work will not It continues to infinity.

Prince Raad bin Zaid Al Hussein, President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Peace Institute, opened the event with a speech on this event, which aims to explore the latest developments in the situation and the future of peace in Yemen, and moderated the discussion by asking a number of questions about the situation in Yemen.
