The Global Auto Group, the new official agent for BMW and MINI cars in Egypt, a subsidiary of Ali Alghanim Sons Automotive Company, has officially reopened the BMW factory in Egypt, with the first car leaving the production lines after A period of pause, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, Engineer Fahd Ali Al-Ghanim, and CEO Muhammad Kandil, and a group of important personalities in the automotive sector in Egypt, as well as media men and journalists specialized in the automotive sector.

The BMW factory reopening ceremony was attended by a high-level delegation from the global BMW Group, headed by John Philippe Baran, Senior Vice President of the BMW Group International in Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, who in turn witnessed the opening of the first showrooms that were equipped with compatibility With the new “BMW Retail Next” identity in Egypt and the entire region, which is the Obour City showroom.

Global Auto had recently acquired the Bavarian Automotive Group, the former agent for the two luxury brands, in a deal that included the existing network of service centers and showrooms, and the BMW car assembly plant, which includes 3 production lines with a total capacity of 10,000 cars annually.

The factory, owned by the “Global Auto” group, is the only factory owned by a local agent for the “BMW” brand, and not by the German group, as is the case with the rest of the “BMW” group factories around the world. for different cars and test.

The assembly and production of locally assembled BMW cars at the factory has finally resumed, with the production of the new “X3” and “X4”, “X5” and “X6” and soon the new “X7” according to a specific schedule.

And the first “BMW” car came off the production lines at the Sixth of October City factory, after the resumption of assembly and production operations, and it is for the “BMW X5xDrive40i” model.

This “SUV” sports car par excellence was equipped with a 6-cylinder 3-liter engine that generates 340 horsepower with a maximum torque of 450 Newton-meters. It also uses a wide range of comfort and luxury equipment, most notably the four-zone automatic air conditioner and the high-definition screen measuring 12.3 inches for the infotainment system, and another measuring 12.3 inches in turn for the dashboard, as well as a 464-watt Harman Kardon stereo system, 20-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, interactive LED headlights, and others.

Al-Ghanim said, “We, in the Global Auto Group, have great future plans, aspirations, and visions for the BMW factory in Egypt, with which we guarantee the provision of high-quality cars that are able to compete and keep pace with global technological development, which is also consistent with the Egyptian state’s approach to localize the automobile industry.”

He added that Ali Alghanim Sons Automotive Company, through its company, the Global Auto Group, will gradually pump huge investments estimated at more than $150 million into all facilities of the luxury brand BMW, of which the BMW factory will have the lion’s share.

For his part, Kandil expressed his happiness at the reopening of the BMW factory in Egypt, the resumption of production and assembly operations, and the exit of the first model from the production lines soon after a long hiatus.

He said, “We have ambitious production plans for this factory, and we will begin to resume production of the (X5) and (X6) models, and in the second quarter of 2023 we will start producing the new (X3) and (X4) cars, and start producing the new (X7) before the end of half of the year.” The first of this year.

The new Obour City showroom is designed to provide the best possible customer experience. In order to meet the tastes and needs of the loyal “BMW” and “MINI” customers in Egypt, as the showroom extends over an area of ​​​​4,200 square meters, and can display 23 cars for the two brands, in addition to the availability of a special section for the “BMW Premium Selection” group for used cars approved by the “BMW” warranty. .

This advanced facility will be joined by an integrated service center during the year, extending over an area of ​​7,000 square meters, and will include 60 service points for checking faults and various mechanical and electrical repairs, supported by the latest devices and equipment specially manufactured to comply with the high-tech engineering of “BMW” and “MINI” cars. To be the largest authorized service center for the two luxury brands in Egypt.

The new showroom has adopted methods and mechanisms to enhance sustainability pursued by the BMW Group globally, including generating electricity from solar panels, recycling water in car wash operations, using motion sensors in the interior lighting systems of the showroom, to support energy saving, and other methods. effective sustainable
