Today, it is a major player in waste management, achieving 673 million euros in turnover in 2020 with 4,600 employees around the world. In 2019, Maxime Séché, the founder’s youngest son, took over as general manager.

During the health crisis, the company intervened in particular in the management of medical waste from hospitals. its managers, Joël and Maxime Séché, won the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Family Business category for the West region.

Hassan Triqui (Secure IC): guardians of the e-galaxy

Cyber security is a major concern. Co-founded in 2011 by Hassan Triqui, Sylvain Guilley and Philippe Nguyen in Cesson-Sévigné (Ille-et Vilaine), the company Secure IC designs tailor-made security solutions for embedded systems and connected objects, for the civil market and for the Defense.

While the health crisis has not upset its processes – remote work was already a reality there – it has postponed certain projects. The teams took the opportunity to materialize important developments such as electronic signatures. With 80 employees of more than 15 nationalities, Secure IC is a mini multinational which generates 55% of its 9 million turnover abroad. Its president, Hassan Triqui, won the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Born global category for the West region.

Armel de Lesquen and Tanguy de Gelis (Famileo): publisher of family gazettes

This family gazette recreates and maintains the link for the happiness of grandparents. Famileo is a hybrid service: an app and a newspaper. The messages and photos shared on the application are laid out, then printed in the form of a newspaper and then sent to subscribers, the grandparents.

Created in 2014 in Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) by Armel de Lesquen and Tanguy de Gelis, Famileo now reaches around 160,000 families and 2,000 nursing homes. Highly requested during confinement, the site almost “exploded”: more than 50,000 families registered between June and December 2020. Famileo achieved in 2020 a turnover of 5.7 million euros (+ 128%) . Its co-founders Armel de Lesquen and Tanguy de Gelis won the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Societal Commitment category for the West region.

Antoine Cheul and Johan Ricaut (Shopopop): I deliver, you deliver, we deliver

The Shopopop platform, created in 2016 in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) offers deliveries in more than 15,000 cities and 95 departments. It relies on a network of nearly 1,500 partner stores, has nearly 700,000 regular users and 300,000 “shoppers”. These private deliverers take advantage of their regular trips to collect their neighbors’ orders in the drives before delivering them to them.

Antoine Cheul, president, and Johan Ricaut, managing director, are the co-founders of Shopopop. Just before the health crisis, they succeeded in their first fundraising. Despite the confinements, the year 2020 saw their activity soar and their turnover increase from 1 million euros to 6 million in 2020. The startup now employs 49 people. Its co-founders are winners of the Entrepreneur of the Year “Jury’s favorite” award in the West region.
