Taiz police recover ancient statues dating back to the pre-Islamic era





The security services in Taiz Police, represented by the Tourist Police Department, managed to recover 3 ancient statues dating back to the pre-Islamic era.

The Director of the Tourist Police Department, Colonel Tawfiq Al-Qudsi, said in a statement to the Security Media Center in the governorate, that the security services, in coordination with Colonel Wahib Al-Houri, a leader in the National Army in the Taiz axis, have recovered the ancient statues.

He pointed out that they are on marble statues with inscriptions dating back to the pre-Islamic era, according to the confirmation of Abdulelah Shamsan, an antiquities expert at the General Authority of Antiquities in the governorate.

The Director of the Tourist Police expressed his deep thanks to Colonel Wahib Al-Huri, the leadership of the national army, the leadership of the military police and the security services in Taiz police, and the General Administration of Antiquities and the Director of the Antiquities Department for maintaining their great efforts and cooperation with the security services in recovering these artifacts and their cooperation in seizing other artifacts and handing them over to the concerned authorities with effects.

The governorate police have previously seized a number of attempts to smuggle antiquities since the start of the war launched by the Houthi militia on the governorate.
