The Minister of Industry and Trade, Muhammad Al-Ashwal, stressed the need to advance the Yemeni economy, which was systematically destroyed as a result of the Houthi coup against state institutions.
This came during his meeting in Geneva, Executive Director of the World Trade Center, Pamela Hamilton, to enhance cooperation and joint coordination.
According to the “Saba” agency, The meeting, which comes on the sidelines of the 12th World Trade Organization Conference, discussed the possibility of the center’s cooperation in the second update of the Trade Diagnostic Study, which was prepared at the beginning of the millennium 2002 AD, and which was updated before the Houthi coup in late September 2014.
Minister Al-Ashwal stressed the importance of strengthening means of cooperation to build partnership between the public and private sectors on solid foundations to advance the Yemeni economy after years of damage as a result of the Houthi coup.
He also touched on the developments of the situation in Yemen and the havoc and destruction left by the Houthi coup that disrupted the state’s plans in various fields, including the commercial aspects, reviewing the efforts made to complete and launch the national strategy for Yemeni exports.
Since the Houthi coup in late 2014, the Yemeni economy has been subjected to a systematic destruction that has reached the point of collapse, as a result of the robbery of the cash reserves in the Central Bank in Sana’a and the continued looting of the revenues of revenue-generating institutions and their use to support the fronts of the Iranian Houthi militia.
