The National Committee to investigate allegations of human rights violations documented 265 cases of violations related to international humanitarian law and international human rights law during the month of April.
In a statement, the committee stated that the incidents of violations, including 53 incidents of killing and wounding civilians, resulted in 77 deaths and injuries, including 18 children and five women, in different governorates, and 18 victims of mines and explosive devices, including two children, in the governorates of Hodeidah, Hajjah, Marib, Al Dhale’e and Taiz.
The statement indicated that, during the same period, the committee was able to investigate the arrest and disappearance of 78 citizens in the Capital Municipality, Dhamar, Hajjah, Saada, Aden, Taiz, Ma’rib, Lahj, Al-Bayda and Hadramout, in addition to the extrajudicial killing of 9 citizens in the Amanat Al-Asimah, Ibb, Al-Hudaydah and Al-Bayda, and the recruitment of 10 children in Al Mahwit, Hajjah, Dhamar, and Amanah, and 50 incidents of assault, damage and looting of private and public objects, schools and educational institutes were documented.
The statement pointed out that the commission’s team investigated the bombing of residential neighborhoods and the explosion of mines in the districts of Al-Hali, Hays, Al-Jarrahi and Al-Tahita in Al-Hodeidah governorate, targeting citizens in the Salh and Al-Ta’iziyah districts in Taiz governorate, and damaging civilian and educational objects in the areas of Al-Wasaa, Mala`a and Harib in Marib governorate.. The team was able to collect evidence of the facts, conduct interviews with a number of witnesses and injured victims, seize a number of remnants of projectiles, and inspect the damaged places.
The committee’s team also followed up on the implementation of the humanitarian truce announced at the end of last March, and documented the impact of violations of the truce on human rights, by descending directly to the various seam areas in the governorates of Taiz, Ma’rib and Al Hudaydah, including the isolation of Al-Sayahi and Al-Ma’afari from the districts of Sabr Al-Mawadim and Jabal Habashi on the western side of the city. Taiz, and the villages of Al-Rajm, Al-Sharaf and Bareed Al-Rawda in the districts of Salh and Al-Taziah, which witnessed sniping operations for citizens, and the fall of projectiles and drones, which led to the death of a woman, the injury of another woman and a man, and damage to homes.
The National Committee to investigate allegations of human rights violations called on all parties to fully abide by the humanitarian truce announced by the United Nations through its envoy to Yemen, in order to achieve the basic pillars of human rights represented by security, peace, development and guaranteeing rights.
Calling to stop targeting civilians, neighborhoods and population centers, lift the siege on Taiz, open all main closed roads between the governorates, facilitate freedom of movement and refrain from detaining and searching travelers.
