US State Department: Hassan Erlo is a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and associated with the Lebanese Hezbollah

The United States of America confirmed today, Wednesday, that the Iranian official who arrived in Sanaa is a member of the Revolutionary Guard and linked to the Lebanese Hezbollah.

“The Iranian regime smuggled Hassan Erlo, a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard linked to the Lebanese Hezbollah, to Yemen under the cover of the” ambassador “to the Houthi militia,” US State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagusch said in a tweet.

Morgan indicated that Iran’s intention to use the Houthis to expand its malicious influence has become clear, and the Yemeni people must say no to Irlo and Iran.

The Yemeni government had condemned the Iranian move and said that the Iranian regime’s continued behavior by gangs and terrorist organizations by smuggling weapons and individuals to the Houthi coup militia confirms the aggressiveness of this regime and its malicious intentions towards Yemenis.

On Monday, the Yemeni government sent a message to the United Nations Security Council regarding the regime in Iran smuggling one of its members to the Republic of Yemen and installing it as an “ambassador” for the Houthi coup militia, in clear violation of international law and Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2216.

On Tuesday, the Cabinet demanded to condemn Iran’s actions in order to preserve the rules governing international relations, warning that Iran would continue its interference with regard to Yemen.
